JUSTICE- We believe that animals have the right to be treated humanely. JLC Animal Rescue focuses on getting justice for the animals that have been abused or are going into hopeless situations. We also educate the public about the horse slaguhter industry in Canada, as well as other topics concerning the welfare of animals.
LOVE- At JLC we believe that animals can overcome what appears to be a hopeless future with love. We show our animals genuine concern and we strive for homes that will continue to do so.
CARE- We consider several aspects of care while an animal is with us- Physical; Social; Behavioural.
The physical aspect focuses on how the animal is doing physically with such things as weight, sight, free from pain, and if there needs any immediate issues to be addressed by a farrier or veterinarian.
The social aspect considers how the animal gets along with species of the same kind, other animals, as well as humans. We look at how the animal responds to others, and try to make the best posssible fit for both the animal and the new home.
The behavioural aspect looks at how the animal responds to various circumstances. For example, one horse may love to be brushed, another may be very impatient and become agitated. We assess behaviours, and work with the animal to help overcome various behaviours. When adopting a pet, we disclose as much information we know, as the more you know, the more likely the placement will be successful.
